WEEE-RecycleIT is the trading name of Mapatom Ltd which was established in October 2007 and has been helping businesses, educational and governmental institutions fulfill their environmental responsibilities ever since.
As data protection policies change we always keep pace with what is required and we adopt new practices to keep ourselves and our customers compliant. We keep it simple and concise to satisfy the most stringent of audits where adherence to the latest GDPR is essential. We are always proactive to any environmental policy changes coming from the Environment Agency (EA)or GDPR changes from the Information Commissioners Office (ICO)
We have always been passionate about the reuse and recycling of computer equipment where we can give old but serviceable equipment a new lease of life. Our thinking is to move away from the “make, use, dispose” way of doing business and to be more mindful of the environment. We have adopted the circular economy method which is restorative and regenerative by design.
We believe in offering an outstanding service
Our business model is designed to offer a completely free collection and recycling service in most cases. We are a business to business service only, incorporating government bodies and educational institutions wishing to dispose of their IT equipment in a legal and ethical way. Although we don’t collect from domestic properties we do offer a free drop-off service if you are local to us.
There are certain items that we have to charge for and these tend to be items that are a cost to us to dispose of correctly. We won’t charge if the bulk of the equipment collected will offset these costs. However, we will charge for collections where the equipment has been dismantled or deliberately spoiled.
Any charges will be arranged at the booking stage as we never charge retrospectively.
Our free service creates freedom for IT departments to pass over their recycling responsibilities to a company with a proven track record in correctly decommissioning computer equipment. We are experts in taking retired equipment and giving it a new lease of life. We remove all identifying markings, reset the BIOS, and digitally destroy any data bearing device found.
We also offer a witnessed onsite shredding service for customers who have sensitive data that need a higher level of control and reporting. This shredding service is only available at the customers premises.
